This Privacy Policy explains how Shenzhen Moyoung Technology Co., Ltd. (深圳市魔样科技股份有限公司, referred to as “Moyoung,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects Personal Data when you use the Da Memo mobile application, a compatible Da Memo recording device, and related online services (collectively, the “Services”).
“Personal Data” means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked with an individual. It may also include information treated as personal information, personal data, or sensitive personal information under applicable law.
By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Where consent is required by law, we will request it separately and you may withdraw it as described below.
The data controller responsible for the processing described in this Privacy Policy is:

Da Memo is a companion application for a compatible Bluetooth recording device. It enables device connection, recording control, recording-file synchronization, local playback and organization, live transcription and translation, post-recording transcription, translation, summaries, segmented summaries, and mind maps.
In particular:
Recording files and the local file index are primarily stored on your device.
Audio or live audio data is transmitted to our cloud recording and AI service only when you use a cloud feature, such as live transcription, live translation, post-recording transcription, translation, or summary generation. Automatic transcription may upload a newly synchronized or imported recording when you enable that setting.
The current release uses device-based authorization for recording and AI services and does not require a separate consumer account to use its main features.
We do not sell Personal Data. The current release does not contain an advertising SDK, and we do not use your Personal Data for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.
Bluetooth and, on older Android versions, location permission are used for nearby Bluetooth device discovery and connection. Da Memo does not use those permissions to obtain GPS coordinates or build a location history.
A diagnostic package leaves the app only when you choose to export and share it. The app is designed to remove common identifiers, tokens, secrets, device IDs, MAC addresses, recordings, and raw audio data from that package.
We process only the categories of data needed for the purposes described below.
We may process:
recordings created with a compatible Da Memo device;
audio files you select through the operating system's file picker;
live audio frames transmitted during live transcription or translation;
file names, recording dates, durations, formats, sizes, checksums, and local file paths or app-internal identifiers; and
playback position and file-management actions.
Recordings may contain voices, conversations, names, opinions, or other information about you or other people. Depending on the content and applicable law, a recording may contain sensitive Personal Data. You are responsible for providing any legally required notice and obtaining consent from people you record.
Recordings are kept in app-controlled local storage after synchronization or import. When you request a cloud recording or AI function, the relevant audio and associated metadata are transmitted to our recording and AI service over an encrypted network connection.
We may process:
transcripts and speaker-separated transcript segments;
translations and selected recording and translation languages;
standard and segmented summaries;
summary scenes or modes;
generated titles and mind maps;
edits you make to transcripts, translations, or generated content; and
cloud task identifiers, task status, error state, and processing history.
Generated results and cloud task state may be stored both on your device and on our servers so that processing can finish, results can be retrieved, edits can be synchronized, and interrupted tasks can recover.
To discover, connect to, authenticate, synchronize with, support, and update a compatible device, we may process:
Bluetooth scan results, device name, stable device identifier, and MAC address;
connection state, signal strength (RSSI), and system pairing state;
device model, capabilities, firmware version, firmware Git hash, color, and size where supported;
battery level, charging state, recording state, storage information, and transfer state;
an app-installation-scoped device-binding value used by supported devices; and
firmware-update availability, package metadata, checksum, target, and update status.
Most Bluetooth and device-state data is processed locally. A protected device identity payload containing data such as the connected device ID, MAC address, firmware version, device name, app name, app version, and timestamp is encrypted before it is sent to our device-authorization service. The device MAC address and firmware version may also be sent when checking for compatible firmware or device configuration.
When you use online features or create a diagnostic package, we may process:
app version and build number;
phone manufacturer or model, operating system, OS version, device language, and platform;
network availability and request timestamps;
IP address and basic server-request metadata generated when your device communicates with our servers;
API path, response status, trace identifier, stable error code, and limited performance or failure information; and
service-security data needed to detect abuse, protect the Services, and investigate technical problems.
The app's network logs are designed not to record request payloads, access tokens, raw MAC addresses, or raw device IDs.
The app stores preferences and workspace information locally, including:
recording and translation language settings;
automatic-transcription, summary-mode, translation-mode, and recording-duration settings;
recording display names, folders, sort order, and file metadata;
submitted search history, limited by the app to recent entries; and
onboarding completion, notification education, binding, synchronization, and recovery state.
These items normally remain on your device unless they are necessary for an online request or included in information you intentionally share.
If you use the diagnostic export feature, the app creates a support archive that may include app and build information, phone and OS information, Bluetooth connection status and signal strength, device name, firmware version, battery and charging state, recording-storage state, firmware-update state, and sanitized app or native diagnostic logs.
The diagnostic export is designed to exclude recordings, raw audio frames, authentication tokens, secrets, unique phone identifiers, device IDs, MAC addresses, and account databases. Diagnostic data is stored privately on the device and subject to rotation. On supported iOS builds, native diagnostic files are limited by daily and size-based rotation and retain no more than 14 files.
The archive is not automatically sent to us. The operating system's share sheet lets you choose a destination. We receive the archive only if you send it to Moyoung or a support channel operated on our behalf. You should verify the destination before sharing it.
Da Memo may request the following operating-system permissions or access:
| Permission or access | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth / Nearby Devices | Discover, connect to, communicate with, synchronize recordings from, and update a compatible Da Memo device. |
| Location on older Android versions | Required by older Android versions to perform Bluetooth scanning. Da Memo does not use this permission to request GPS coordinates or create a location history. |
| Notifications | Show device, connection, battery, recording, synchronization, or other service-related notices where supported. |
| Files selected through the system picker | Import only the audio file you choose. The app does not use the picker to browse unrelated files without your action. |
| Background Bluetooth capability on iOS | Maintain supported Bluetooth device communication when permitted by iOS. |
| Internet access | Authenticate a compatible device, provide live and post-recording AI functions, check device configuration or firmware, and retrieve online content. |
You can manage permissions in your phone settings. Refusing or revoking a permission may prevent the related feature from working but does not affect unrelated offline features.
We use Personal Data to:
discover, bind, connect to, and communicate with compatible devices;
start, pause, resume, finish, synchronize, verify, organize, play, export, and share recordings at your direction;
provide live transcription, live translation, post-recording transcription, translation, summaries, segmented summaries, generated titles, and mind maps;
remember your preferences and recover interrupted recording, synchronization, or AI-processing tasks;
authenticate the connected device and protect access to recording and AI services;
check, download, verify, and install compatible firmware updates;
provide support and troubleshoot failures when you contact us or share diagnostics;
maintain the security, integrity, reliability, and availability of the Services;
prevent misuse, fraud, or unlawful activity; and
comply with applicable law, enforce our terms, and protect the rights, safety, and property of users, Moyoung, and others.
We do not use recording content to create advertising profiles or serve targeted advertisements.
Cloud recording and AI functions require transmission of audio or live audio data to our recording and AI service. Depending on the feature, the transmitted data may also include the file name, selected languages, summary mode, device-based authorization token, task identifier, and edits you submit.
Automatic transcription is optional. When enabled, the app may automatically create a cloud transcription task after a device recording is synchronized or an audio file is imported. You can disable automatic transcription in the app's settings. Live transcription or translation starts only when you open or activate the relevant feature.
Cloud processing may analyze speech and text to produce the result you requested. We use this content to provide, secure, maintain, and support the requested Services and to comply with law. This Privacy Policy does not authorize the use of your private recording content for targeted advertising.
We may disclose Personal Data only as described below.
We may use carefully selected providers for cloud hosting, storage, networking, speech recognition, translation, AI processing, content delivery, security, and technical support. They may process Personal Data only as needed to provide contracted services to us and are required to protect it under applicable contractual and legal obligations.
We may share data with Moyoung affiliates that support the Services, provided that they process it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
When you export a recording, PDF, generated text, or diagnostic archive, the operating system may present third-party apps or services that can receive it. The recipient you choose processes that data under its own privacy policy. We do not control a third party merely because you selected it in the system share sheet.
We may preserve or disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with applicable law, a lawful government request, court order, or legal process; investigate fraud or security incidents; enforce our terms; or protect the rights, property, and safety of Moyoung, our users, or others.
If Moyoung is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, Personal Data may be disclosed as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
We do not sell Personal Data and do not share Personal Data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following:
Performance of a contract: to provide the device connection, synchronization, recording management, cloud processing, firmware, and support functions you request.
Consent: for operating-system permissions, optional cloud features, or processing that requires consent under local law. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already performed lawfully.
Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of the Services, prevent misuse, and protect users, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights.
Legal obligations: to comply with laws, lawful requests, accounting or recordkeeping requirements, and the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
Protection of vital interests or public interest: where strictly necessary and permitted by applicable law.
If applicable law treats voice recordings or their contents as sensitive Personal Data, we will process them only as permitted by law and, where required, based on separate or explicit consent.
Managed recordings, file indexes, folders, search history, preferences, AI task snapshots, and diagnostic logs are generally retained locally until you delete the relevant item, clear app data, or uninstall the app, subject to the operating system's behavior and backup settings. You can delete managed recordings from the app. Deleting a recording removes the app-managed local copy but may not by itself delete an associated cloud AI task or copies you previously exported.
Uploaded audio, generated content, device-authorization records, firmware-request data, and cloud task data are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and recover the requested Services, maintain security and service integrity, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Retention may vary according to the data type, task status, backup cycle, legal requirements, and whether an unresolved support or security issue exists. When data is no longer required, we delete it or anonymize it in accordance with our operational and legal requirements.
Canceling an AI task or uninstalling the app does not necessarily send a deletion request for data already transmitted to our servers. To request deletion of cloud data associated with your use of Da Memo, contact support@moyoung.com. We may request limited information needed to locate the relevant device-based task data and verify that the request is legitimate.
Backup copies may remain for a limited period until they are overwritten or deleted under our backup schedules, unless longer retention is required by law or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Personal Data. These include, where appropriate:
HTTPS or secure WebSocket connections for online services;
encryption of the device-authorization payload before transmission;
secure operating-system storage for access and refresh tokens;
app-controlled storage for managed recordings and local task data;
checksum and file-integrity verification during recording synchronization and firmware download;
redaction of common identifiers and secrets from diagnostic exports; and
restrictions intended to keep raw audio, tokens, MAC addresses, and device identifiers out of application logs.
No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should protect access to your phone, connected device, exported files, and any destination to which you share content.
Moyoung is located in the People's Republic of China. Personal Data may be processed in China and in other countries or regions where our service providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws different from those in your country.
Where required, we use legally recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, approved standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, security assessments, or consent. You may contact us for more information about safeguards applicable to your data.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
request confirmation of whether we process your Personal Data;
access or receive a copy of Personal Data we hold about you;
correct inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data;
request deletion of Personal Data;
restrict or object to certain processing;
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
request data portability where applicable;
opt out of processing for targeted advertising, sale, or sharing as defined by applicable law; and
lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection authority.
Da Memo does not sell Personal Data or use it for targeted advertising, so no separate sale or targeted-advertising opt-out is currently required within the app.
You can also exercise choices directly by disabling automatic transcription, deleting local recordings, clearing search history where the app provides that control, revoking permissions in system settings, choosing not to export diagnostics, or discontinuing use of online features.
To exercise a legal right concerning data held by our online Services, email support@moyoung.com. Describe your request and the Da Memo feature involved. To protect users and connected devices, we may need to verify the request before acting on it. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. Rights may be subject to lawful exceptions.
The Services are not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from a child in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided Personal Data through the Services without required parental consent, contact us at support@moyoung.com. We will investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion where required.
Da Memo can record and process other people's voices and conversations. Recording, transcribing, translating, or sharing a conversation may be restricted by privacy, wiretapping, employment, confidentiality, or other laws. Before recording or uploading content, you must:
provide any notice required by law;
obtain all required permissions or consents;
avoid recording where recording is prohibited; and
protect confidential, sensitive, or legally privileged information.
Do not use the Services to record, upload, process, or share content unlawfully or in violation of another person's rights.
The Services may open external legal documents, support resources, system settings, or third-party apps selected through the operating system. Apple, Google, phone manufacturers, mobile carriers, and apps you choose for export or sharing may independently process information under their own privacy policies. This Privacy Policy does not govern independent third-party services.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Services, legal requirements, or our data practices. We will update the “Last Updated” date and, where required, provide additional notice in the app or request renewed consent. Material changes apply prospectively unless otherwise permitted by law.
